Cacao Superfood Smoothie


This Cacao Superfood Smoothie tastes just like a fruity chocolate + almond butter malted but with a ton of health benefits. This smoothie would be the perfect pre-hike fuel all Summer long! 


If you're addicted to smoothies like I am, you're probably always trying new combinations. Of course, you have a few tried-and-true standbys that you never get tired of (for me, it's this Pear Almond Butter Green Smoothie), but it's fun to try new flavors. This blueberry based smoothie has a chocolately, almond buttery flavor that masks any other green (kale) or earthy (maca) flavors that come from all the superfoods in this smoothie.

Cacao Superfood Smoothie
Serves 1
  • 1 1/2 cups water or nondairy milk
  • 1 cup chopped kale/spinach, frozen
  • 1 cup wild blueberries, frozen
  • 1/2 very ripe banana, frozen
  • 1 tablespoon cacao powder
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 teaspoon maca powder
  • 1 teaspoon hemp hearts
  • 1 teaspoon flax seeds
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • sweetener to taste, if desired (real maple syrup, stevia, raw honey if not vegan...)
  • pinch pink salt
Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
