Red, White, & Blue Frozen Smoothies

Healthy and easy, these festive Red, White, & Blue Frozen Smoothies are a great way to start the holiday!

This delicious smoothie is such a cute way to start celebrating the Fourth. This smoothie would be such a adorable snack for kids, and a healthy one too! There is some waiting and a few steps so prepare for that but when it's all ready, the reward is charmingly appealing and tastes great!

This smoothie is to be eaten with a spoon. It almost reminds me of sorbet and sherbet in texture. You don't want to freeze the layers completely, just harden them up so the colors don't just mix into one another.

You can use whatever red or blue/purple fruits you want. The colors just may differ from the ones used in this smoothie.

Red, White, & Blue Frozen Smoothies
Makes 2 smoothies

Red Layer
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate (or cranberry) juice
White Layer
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup (coconut or vanilla flavored) greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
Blue Layer
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
Starting with the red layer, add both of the ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth. Scoop into the bottom of two glasses. Freeze for at least 20 minutes, or until hardened.

Next, the white layer. Add the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Carefully scoop over the red layer in the two glasses. Freeze until hardened, about 30 minutes.

Finally blend all of the blue layer ingredients. Divide between the two glasses. Freeze until hardened slightly.

Serve with a spoon and enjoy!
