Instant Cherry Granita

One ingredient is all you need for this super healthy Instant Cherry Granita!

I always stock our freezers with frozen fruit. My local wholesale store sells frozen organic fruit in lots of varieties so I stock up. Cherries are one of my must haves. Not only are frozen cherries a great snack, they're great in smoothies.

Instant granita is simply frozen fruit that is pulsed in a food processor until broken up. The texture is similar to real, traditional granita - not smooth, but finely chopped.

Use fruit that is in season and sweet. Since there is no added sugar in this granita, you want the fruit to have great flavor and natural sweetness. If using fresh fruit, just peel and dice it, then freeze until solid.

Instant Cherry Granita
  • frozen pitted sweet cherries (about one cup frozen fruit per person)
Add the cherries (I used 4 cups; serves 4) to a high powered food processor and pulse until finely chopped and the texture of sand or snow cone ice. Scoop into bowls and serve!
