Blueberry + Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Quick and easy, these Blueberry + Peanut Butter Dog Treats are a healthy treat your dog will love!

Dog treats are one of the easiest things to make. These simple treats only have five ingredients. Blueberries are a super-food, not only for people, but for our dogs too. Full of antioxidants these treats are great for dogs with poor immune systems, like our dog, Thelma. Add in some healthy peanut butter and your dogs will love them.

Oat flour is simply ground oats. I pulse old fashioned oats in the food processor until a powder forms. No need to go out a buy oat flour when it's that easy. When mixing up these treats, be careful not to over-mix the dough as it can form a gummy treat which can be difficult for a dog to eat.

These treats can be made as soft or crunchy as your dog likes by just baking for a longer or shorter time. I usually bake these for 15 minutes for a crunchy outside and soft inside, which doesn't seem too hard for Macy & Thelma to eat.

Blueberry + Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Makes 24 treats
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour (I used white whole wheat flour)
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, finely chopped
  • 3 teaspoons peanut butter powder
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
Preheat oven to 350

In a bowl, whisk together egg, almond milk, and blueberries. Set aside.

In another bowl, whisk flours and peanut butter powder.

Combine wet and dry ingredients until a dough forms.

Scoop dough, by the tablespoons, on a sheet pan. The dough spreads very little. Bake 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Cool completely on a rack then store in a jar for up to one week.

Please consult your vet before adding anything new to your dog's diet and any possible allergies your dog might have.
These treats have been approved by my vet but please use your own vet's guidance in regards to your pet.
